There are more arcades in Ota thatn any other city in Tokyo. One is very close. Yoko san, her friend Hidemi san, and I went there Sunday. We ate in a restaurant that wpcialized in gyoza, knon in the US as pot stickers. I tried three kinds of sake – each a little different. One had a hint of fruit that was excellant.
It turned out that a Shinto matsuri was in progress. It is a sort of festival – portable wshrines – in this dae three – are take around the neighborhoods with lots of chanting and lots of followers. They returned while we were eating. We also saw two childrens portable shrines on display. I enjoy matsuris. They occurs at verious shrines all summer. Some are much bigger. The shrine is aplace where some relic of importance is stored. The portable shrine is used for events like the one we saw.
