[everest_gallery alias=”WISH”]

I wnet to Salem State University to ask a Japanese student if she could be a sensei for me. She said she was too busy, but could I help three Japanese students find homes for the winter vacation.. We were going to Colorado for Christmas, so we could not host them, but we made some calls and found homes for them. Later in the spring we went to Salem State to see a production of the Gilbert and Sullivan operetta HMS Pinafore. Seated next to us were two Asian women. After determining that they were form China, we invited them for an afternoon at the Peabody Essex Museum, where Sharon wa a docent, and dinner at our house afterward. A third woman joined us – the three were Cao CHang, Jane ?, and Jie Meng.

At dinner, Jie (a visiting Deab if Ebgkusg Dept at hengzhou University of Light Industry) said after nine months in the US she ha never spent time in an American home. We were aghast, and vowed to show here America. We did the Museum of Fine Arts, a whale watch, a neighborhood party, ;and much more. Her son Yao had transferred here from Kansas State. In September when Jie had returned to China, Yao introduced us to many Asian students. We n offered them help finding homestays for winter break. Thuys was born WISH –
